This weekend is organised by Martin Pol and me in Zentrum. We have been Dharma brothers for quite some time, and during our numerous conversations, the idea emerged for a series of four weekends in 2024, centred around the theme of “Enlightenment.”
Each weekend will explore a different aspect. Given the complexity of the topic, four weekends allow ample time. Whether clarity can be attained regarding Enlightenment remains uncertain…
Insights, clear knowing, oneness experiences, and moments of emptiness. All converge in Buddhist terms such as awakening, enlightenment, and liberation. Apparently, these concepts are of great significance yet challenging to articulate accurately.
We tend to seek understanding of what enlightenment truly is. We desire to experience it, attain it, and hold onto it—often in the pursuit of greater happiness. However, the paradox lies in the fact that an enlightened existence is already possible in the present moment. Regardless of how unhappy, anxious, or confused you may feel, this experience can occur spontaneously, beyond your conscious effort. It’s primarily a matter of direct experience and, notably, doing less rather than more.
